Stewart Ford SF1-01 - 1997
This is the Stewart Ford SF1-01 Formula One car that was the first Formula One car built by the Stewart Ford Grand Prix team and competed in the 1997 Formula One Championship season. This is the actual car Jan Magnussen drove that year, with Rubens Barrichello as his team mate in the number 22 car. The car was designed by Alan Jenkins and packs a Ford-Zetec-R V10 engine.
The car was well designed and offered some promise as the season started, it was competitive enough to regularly be in the points positions, but it was hampered with appalling reliability problems throughout the season.
The team finished the season 9th in the Constructors Championship, with 6 points, as mentioned this was largely disappointing due to the fact the car could have given so much more if not for its unreliability! The highlight of the season being the 2nd place finish achieved at the Monaco GP by Rubens Barrichello.
To reiterate the fact of terrible reliability of the car; from a total of 17 races, the car could have achieved 34 race finishes (both cars in each race), yet it only saw the chequered flag 8 times!. Also, both cars only finished the same race once, that being the Monaco GP where Barrichello got 2nd and Magnussen came home 7th.
