Austrian Formula One Grand Prix
With the Alps being the backbone of much of Austria, it comes as no surprise to discover that the A1-Ring, near Spielberg is anything but flat, in fact the track was developed using part of the winding and very fast Osterreichring, which was renowned for its hilly nature.
The A1-Ring is a very fast circuit with only ten corners during a 2.68 mile lap. It also boasts four straights, with two of them having slight kinks, the circuit see's drivers exceeding 190mph before having to brake hard for a succession of epic twisting bends creating a exhilarating challenging lap. Formula One first came to the A1-Ring in 1997 after Herman Tilke throughly revised the circuit, though concerns about safety resulted in it loosing its place on the Formula One calendar in 2003. |
