Ferrari T5 - 1980
This is the Ferrari T5 Formula One race car that competed in the 1980 World Championship season. The 312 T5 is the last of the flat-12-cylinder F1 Ferrari's ever built, the last of the pre-turbo and pre-computer Ferrari F1 cars built, also it was the last 12-cylinder Ferrari driven by Canadian F1 driver Gilles Villeneuve.
In the 1980 Formula 1 season the Ferrari T5 was totally outclassed as their wide 312 'Boxer' engine did not suit the aerodynamic needs of the cars design. In essence the car was unreliable, slow and not effective against the competition. The cars development throughout the season didn't improve their situation either, as the cars progress was non-existent, with the other constructors improving and moving forward, the T5 became less and less competitive over the course of the season.
For the first time since 1973, Ferrari failed to win a race throughout the entire season, and the team finished 10th in the constructors' championship. The T5 was succeeded by a completely new car, the 126CK, for the 1981 F1 season.
