McLaren Mercedes MP4-10B-01 - 1995
This is the McLaren Mercedes MP4-10B-01 Formula One car that Nigel Mansell used in the Formula One 1995 season. This was the first time that McLaren used the Mercedes V10 3.5 litre engines, that gave the car an output of 700bhp at 16'000rpm!.
Pictured is the actual car Nigel Mansell used in the 1995 season, although he only raced at two circuits that year, at the beginning of the season Mansell found the cockpit of the car too small for him to manoeuvre his arms whilst driving, which led to the team having to re-design the monocoque for a wider cockpit. While this was taking place, Mansell had to stand down from the first 2 races of the season as test driver Mark Blundell stepped in to the car. The car was re-designed for the 3rd race of the season at San Marino where Mansell secured a top ten finish, the next race in Spain was to be Mansells last for the team, where he retired the car from the race. Before the next race on the roster at Monaco, the team announced that the relationship with their driver Nigel Mansell was over and test driver Mark Blundell will step into the car for the remainder of the season.
