Force India VJM01 - 2008
This is the Force India VJM01 Formula One race car that competed in the 2008 World Championship season. It's the very first Force India that made its debut in 2008, its powered by a Ferrari V8 32 Valve engine and was driven by Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella.
Melbourne Australia was the scene for Force India's first race, and although the Grand Prix gave the team a poor start with both drivers retiring in the first few laps, the following race in Malaysia saw Fisichella's 12th place earn the team their first finish in F1. After Disapointing results in the opening races, Sutil gave the team the chance to score their first points, with what would have been a famous drive in a wet Monaco Grand Prix, but towards the end of the race Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari lost control coming out of the tunnel and into the braking zone and hit Sutil's car causing immediate retirement.
Continuous updates to improve reliability and performance allowed the team to close the gap to the leading teams during mid-season, although the later part of the season the team halted work on the VJM01 to concentrate on its successor for 2009.

Giancarlo Fisichella put his car to a season best 12th on the grid at the Italian Grand Prix during an extremely wet qualifying session, he however went on to crash during the race. The team finished the season tenth place in the Constructors Championship, and Fisichella achieved the best finish of 10th at the Spanish Grand Prix.
